Is Ghana, as a democratic state producing good leaders? What is happening will rather build followers and not produce leaders. Ralph Nader once said, "I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers".

Growing up, hearing the name Member of Parliament placed a broad smile on a lot of faces. Undoubtedly, MPs are seen as one of the people responsible for the happenings in the country, since legislation has been left in their hands. I want to become an MP has been one of the greatest prayer points for some Christians and Muslims when the intention of venturing into politics comes into mind.

John Maxwell, also said, "A leader is one who knows the way, and shows the way." The question to be asked and answered is “Are our leaders showing the way?” In examining this quote and relating it to the misconduct shown by some Members of Parliament in Ghana, it is obvious that some MPs do not find interest in building a strong legislation system for the future.

It is important to note that what we as leaders do now serves as a learning platform for the younger generation.

John C. Maxwell, also revealed that Leadership is influence. But is our influence a positive or negative one? A sad answer and narrative to give!

A country practising democracy like ours should have a sound legislation system, devoid of violence and immoral behaviours, which will help to improve a sustainable democratic governance.

Marching forward, all legislators must know that, they are seen as role models and must behave as such, so as to raise and produce leaders for the future generation and not followers.

To conclude, Murray Hopper once said, "You manage things; you lead people".
