System Generated Audio Version (SGAV):

They hand it to you wrapped in concern, tied with the string of "experience".

It’s called advice, but inside is fear.

"That business won’t work." "That marriage is too early." "That job is not serious."

They give you the package because it was handed to them too, and nobody told them they could return it.

About money, they say: "Suffer first. Work hard. 30 years in one office, then maybe peace."

They do not understand "work smart" because their smart was survival.

Their tools were sweat and silence.

So when you build with wifi, with apps, with a laptop and a team across Accra, they call it laziness.

Because if it didn’t break your back, it cannot be real work to them.

About life, they say: "Follow the line. School, job, house, car, marriage, children. In that order."

Any deviation is rebellion. Any speed is recklessness.

They cannot see that your generation is not running away from responsibility.

You are just drawing a new map because the old road has traffic and potholes they refuse to fix.

About marriage and children, they ask: "When?" before they ask "Who?"

They measure your worth by the number of grandchildren you give them.

If you wait, you are selfish. If you choose differently, you are lost.

They forget that you watched their marriages and decided you wanted peace more than pressure.

You are not delaying life. You are trying to get it right.

About work ethic, they shout: "Young people don’t want to work!"

What they mean is: "Young people don’t want to work like we did."

You are building systems, automating, delegating, resting so you don’t burn out.

To them that looks like dodging labor.

To you it looks like honoring your time. Both can be true, but only one of you is being called ungrateful for it.

And yes, sometimes it’s jealousy in a blazer.

They see you at 27 with a company, with a house, with options they never had.

Instead of pride, it stings.

So they pour cold water on your fire and call it wisdom.

"Don’t fly too high." "Be humble." "It won’t last."

Not because it won’t last, but because they never got to try.

They don’t see the corrections you are making.

The therapy you are going for. The boundaries you are setting. The debt you refuse to inherit.

The way you are choosing partners with conversations, not just chemistry.

The way you are building businesses that pay people fairly and let them go home.

Their lens is too small for this picture. Their mentality was built for a different war.

So here is the advice about the advice:

Take the package. Unwrap it. Keep the love, throw away the fear.

Thank them for the roof they gave you, then build a bigger house.

Work hard, yes, but also work smart, because your brain is also labor.

Marry late, early, or not at all, but marry with intention.

Make money in ways they don’t understand and teach them after.

And when they call you too fast, too soft, too different — smile.

You are not their disappointment.

You are their correction.
