Chapter One: Deception
Sarah lay in bed, her husband Quame's s arms around her. But her mind was elsewhere. She was thinking about Ron, her ex-boyfriend. They had started seeing each other again. The night before, Sarah and Ron had been together. She remembered the way he touched her, the way he kissed her. She felt a thrill of excitement, but pushed the feeling away. She didn't want to think about Ron when she was with Quame.
"Good morning," Quame whispered in her ear.
"Good morning," Sarah replied, trying to sound cheerful.
As they got ready for the day, Sarah couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. She had been lying to Quame for years, telling him she was working late or going out with friends and girls trips when really she was spending time with Ron in his other house.
Quame seemed to sense that something was wrong. He kept looking at her, trying to get her attention.
